SAN ANTONIO – His story and smile touched a lot of viewers when KSAT-12 first introduced them to Alan Sanders two years ago.
His final wish was to ride an elevator and push all the buttons on the way to the top.
That wish was granted before he passed away at the age of five in January of 2013.
An event planned for this weekend is meant to raise awareness and money for childhood cancer research in Alan's honor.
The Second-Annual Alan's Hero Fund Rocket Launch will take place Sunday at 5 p.m.
The family-friendly event allows people to launch rockets at the Star Complex in the 5100 block of David Edwards Drive.
Alan's parents created Alan's Hero Fund through the Saint Baldrick's Foundation and have raised more than $3,100 through the rocket launch events alone.
