Man critically wounded in South Side shooting

Shooter flees the scene on foot

SAN ANTONIO – Police found a man shot in the head and lying in the middle of the street early Saturday morning.

Officers found the 20-year-old Hispanic man around midnight in the 600 block of West Vestal Place on the city's South Side.

Authorities said the victim was holding a rubber play gun in his hand and was wearing a bandanna over his face.

The victim was rushed to University Hospital in critical condition.

Police said whoever shot the man fled on foot.
