Stan Lee headlines Alamo City Comic Con

Annual event draws thousands to San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO – The Alamo City Comic Con is in full swing this weekend with some of the biggest stars the genre has to offer on hand.

Thousands of fans packed the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center Saturday for the annual gathering.

Fans were given the chance to take pictures with their favorite actors and characters, as well as pick up some autographs and memorabilia.

Many fans came dressed as their favorite characters.

One San Antonio man was dressed as his own made-up super hero, "Preventor."

"This is my first Comic Con. It's just fabulous, just meeting people that you see on TV, like Stan Lee. I was able to meet Stan Lee. I was able to get a photo op with him. It was great. All the collectors. This is just a big pop culture thing," said Scott Smothers.

Stan Lee is this year's guest of honor. The well-known comic book writer and co-creator of "Spider-Man" joins other stars, like Lou Diamond Phillips, who is expected to make an appearance Sunday.

Others celebrity appearances include actors from the TV series "The Walking Dead."
