Train strikes 18-wheeler in New Braunfels

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – A train collided with an 18-wheeler in New Braunfels Friday afternoon, New Braunfels police said.

The accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Krueger Canyon Road.

Investigators said the driver of the 18-wheeler was attempted to cross the unprotected tracks when it was struck on the passenger side by a Union Pacific train. Investigators said the crossing only had a stop sign present.

The driver of the 18-wheeler suffered minor injuries.

During the collision, some structural damage to the roadway and train tracks occurred, but police investigators did not know the extent of the damage.

Union Pacific officials are also investigating.
