SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Medical Examiner's office identified a body found on a South Side street late Sunday night as 19-year-old Abel Mata Rodas.
San Antonio Police responded to a report of a body found around 9 p.m. in the 500 block of Yukon Boulevard.
Officers said Mata Rodas' body was covered in blood and he suffered blunt trauma to his head and body, but paramedics were not able to determine how he died.
Mata Rodas lived in a house on Yukon near where he was found.
"We hear a lot of noise, and a lot of commotion, you know, and my son was coming out to close the gates," said one neighbor. "We just saw the guy there on the side of the road."
"He was laying right there in the middle of the street, on the curb there, and he was dead," said Guaberto Uriegas.
Police said Mata Rodas had a confrontation with someone else inside his home earlier in the evening.
SAPD detectives took several people in for questioning, including others who lived in the home, but have not said if any charges would be filed.
Police said they are treating the case as a murder, but the medical examiner will have to rule on the cause of death.
"Very nervous, because it's scary, you know? You don't know what's gonna happen next," said a neighbor.
