SA Pets Alive! celebrates opening of adoption center

3,000 dogs, cats adopted in last year

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio Pets Alive! celebrated one year of operation Saturday at the Paul Jolly Center for Pet Adoptions.

To celebrate, the center invited all the adopted pets, and their owners back for a Halloween costume contest and pumpkin patch.

Directors said over the last year they have adopted out more than 3,000 dogs and cats.

The organization has also grown its foster base and logged over 4,000 volunteer hours at the new center.

"We've had over 3,000 adoptions this year. So it's been really fast. It's great weather just to celebrate one year, and to look back at what we've accomplished and how fast we did it," said Claire Joscelyne, adoption program director.

San Antonio Pets Alive! says its goal is for San Antonio to become the largest "no-kill" city in the country.
