BCSO: Woman, 16-year-old arrested on burglary charges

Witnesses say teen bragged on Facebook about break-in

SAN ANTONIO – A 32-year-old woman and her 16-year-old relative were arrested Thursday on burglary charges by members of two units from the Bexar County Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's Office announced that Shemica Byrd and the teenager were taken into custody by members of the Fugitive Apprehension Unit and the Sheriff's Habitual Offender Team in connection to multiple burglaries. 

The two suspects are linked to residential burglaries within the Windsor Oaks neighborhood and surrounding area.

According to witnesses, the teen bragged on Facebook about one of the burglaries. 

The stolen items include food, TVs, cellphones, X-Box gaming systems and other electronic items totaling about $20,000.

The pair are facing charges of burglary/habitation and several counts of possession of stolen property. More charges are expected.
