Man arrested in connection with bank robberies

Allan April, 57, in custody; 56-year-old man sought

SAN ANTONIO – A suspect has been arrested in connection with a series of bank robberies and San Antonio police believe he had help from a 56-year-old man.

An arrest warrant affidavit stated that Allan April, 57, is believed to be the person who drove the getaway car after two robberies and an attempted robbery last month.

The affidavit stated that a 56-year-old man, who has been charged but may not be in custody yet, walked into a Wells Fargo bank on S. Zarzamora Street on Oct. 13, made a demand for money with a teller, but got cold feet and left.

It stated he then went to an IBC bank the same day and robbed it.

Police were called back to the same Wells Fargo bank a few weeks later on Oct. 28 for a report of another robber involving the same man.

The affidavit stated that a witness obtained a license plate number on the getaway car and police used it to track down April.

Once they had him in custody, police said April gave them information on the second man.
