SAN ANTONIO – A driver rammed a Windcrest police officer's patrol car during a traffic stop early Thursday morning.

Police said the incident happened around 2 a.m. when the officer initiated a traffic stop on a over sized pickup truck in the 600 block of Crestway.

The driver stopped but put the truck in reverse, ramming the patrol car.

The officer was not hurt and the driver sped off into Takas Park, but hit a drainage ditch.

The driver got out of the truck and fled on foot. Police searched the area with help from SAPD'S canine unit but could not located the suspect.

The suspect is believed to be in his 20s. Officers recovered property in the back of the truck that was taken in a car burglary in San Antonio earlier.

Police said the truck was not stolen but had different plates on it.
