SAN ANTONIO – Dozens of employees at a San Antonio-footwear company spent Friday morning packing holiday meals for military members across Texas.
Employees at San Antonio Shoemakers packed boxes with all the essentials for a holiday meal, including a turkey.
Those boxes will be distributed next weekend to military families in Corpus Christi, Houston, Abilene and in San Antonio.
"We have some very caring and very loving people here at SAS," said Tyler Remmert. "They love to give back to their fellow employees and to the community at large who have given us so much."
"Packing today will feed a family of four," said Operation Homefront's Marrisa Peters. "San Antonio Shoemakers also put some warm, cozy socks in there for the families so they can make sure to stay bundled up in this chilly weather."
The recipient families were chosen through Operation Homefront.
In total, SAS employees packaged about a thousand meals Friday.
