10 arrested in domestic violence warrant sweep

October was Domestic Violence Awareness Month

SAN ANTONIO – At least 10 people in the San Antonio area were arrested in a sweep targeting fugitives wanted on domestic violence-related charges.

According to a statement issued by a spokesman for the United States Marshals Service's Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, the task force used the month of October -- known nationally as Domestic Violence Awareness Month -- to target people wanted on charges related to domestic and family violence.

The enforcement campaign prioritized fugitives who have violated their probation, parole or bond conditions, the spokesman said.

Those arrested include:

  • Kerry Blackman, 50, arrested on a felony warrant for allegations involving the charge of sexual abuse of a child
  • Deon Desean Brown, 28, arrested on a felony warrant for allegations involving the charge of assault family violence
  • Jesse Contreras, 33, arrested on a felony warrant for allegations involving the charge of continuous sexual abuse of a child
  • Mercy Elita Cruz, 48, arrested on a felony warrant for allegations involving the charge of continuous violence against a family member
  • David Hawkins, 31, arrested on a 2 felony warrants for allegations involving the charge of injury to a child
  • Jesse Lee Huizar, 32, arrested on a felony warrant for allegations involving the charge of assault family violence
  • Marcus Anthony Prater, 20, arrested on a felony warrant for allegations involving the charge of attempted aggravated sexual abuse of a child
  • Raul Cordel Reed, 24, arrested on a felony warrant for allegations involving the charge of sexual assault of a child
  • Mark Saucedo, 22, arrested on a felony warrant for allegations involving the charge of assault family violence by choking and strangulation
  • Darrell Smith, 36, arrested on a felony warrant for allegations involving assault family violence by choking and strangulation
