1 man arrested after gun scare at Texas State

SAN MARCOS, Texas – One man was arrested on the campus of Texas State University Thursday after a woman reported seeing a person with a gun.

A spokesperson with the university in San Marcos said an evacuation was issued around 2:10 p.m. at the Undergraduate Academic Center on campus. 

The building was locked down for a while, but reopened just before 3 p.m.

Anthony Marcell Davis III, 21, was arrested and charged with marijuana possession and resisting arrested. 

Davis, who is not a Texas State student, was released Friday on a $6,000 bond.

A second person was also questioned and later released.

University police recovered a suspicious backpack, but did not find a gun in their search.
