SAN ANTONIO – A bull being held in captivity and left to starve was rescued by Animal Care Services over the weekend.

ACS officials said the 2-year-old Holstein bull managed to break free from a tree he was chained to and ended up in a neighbor's yard in the 16000 block of Pleasanton Road on the city's South Side.

The bull, named Barney, was underweight, and neglect charges are possible against his former owner.

Barney joins two goats already housed in the Animal Care Services livestock area.
