SA church hosts town hall meeting about Ferguson

SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio church hosted a town hall meeting Monday night to discuss the Ferguson protests and the grand jury's decision last Monday not to indict police officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of teenager Michael Brown.

Bethel AME Church on Swiss Street hosted the town hall which was focused on Ferguson and the current state of San Antonio.

A panel consisting of politicians, lawyers, educators and members of the clergy gave their thoughts on the topic of deadly interactions between law enforcement and young minorities.

While there was plenty of discussion about the problem, there were also many solutions offered by participants.

"I think more people from different parts of the community need to come together to really understand one another and take the time out to realize that this problem is a challenge, it's not the beginning, it's not the end its something we're going to have to continue to work on," said Gylon Jackson, town hall participant.

Organizers say the challenge is to turn those solutions into meaningful actions.
