Judson HS basketball coach arrested on DWI charges
Mike Wacker, 52, arrested early Wednesday morning
SAN ANTONIO – Judson High School head basketball coach Mike Wacker, 52, has been arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.
Wacker was arrested just after 2 a.m. Wednesday and was booked into the Bexar County Jail about three and a half hours later.
According to the magistrate's log, he was released on bond Wednesday afternoon.
Thursday afternoon, Judson Independent School District spokeman Steve Linscomb released the following statement:
"Judson Head Basketball Coach Mike Wacker was picked up late Tuesday night, December 2nd 2014 for an alleged Driving While Intoxicated incident. The event took place without incident and Coach Wacker voluntarily reported the incident to JISD Administration as soon as he was released and able to do so. Judson ISD is taking disciplinary action in the matter, but as this is a personnel matter, state law limits the amount and nature of the information that I can share at this time.
"Coach Wacker's biggest concern is the impact of this incident on his family which he holds very dearly and from which he continues to get a tremendous amount of support. He also knows that this will have an impact on his team and the students that he teaches and comes in contact with daily. In both cases, he will be dealing with the matter internally and we ask that you respect his request for privacy.
"This is the first ever incident of any kind with Coach Mike Wacker as an employee of Judson ISD. Apart from the disciplinary action, he will receive the district support he needs as he moves forward in dealing with it. Please be assured that Coach Wacker's focus, as always, remains on the well-being of his students and players and most importantly his family."
