It will include all SAISD principals, department managers and superintendent cabinet members, as well as the superintendent.

They will receive Emergency Care and Safety Institute training to become certified in CPR and the use of automatic external defibrillators or AEDs.

On Jan. 16, employees at all 90 SAISD campuses will receive CPR awareness training at a staff development day.

Other SAISD staff will undergo training at various points throughout the school year.

Students in the 3rd-8th grades will receive age-appropriate training in their health or PE classes. CPR awareness already is taught at the high school level.
