SAISD begins district wide CPR training today

San Antonio ISD to equip all staff, most students with CPR skills

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio ISD will begin training Wednesday morning to ensure all of its employees and most of its students learn life-saving CPR skills.

The first employee session will be held at the Alamo Convocation Center.

It will include all SAISD principals, department managers and superintendent cabinet members, as well as the superintendent.

They will receive Emergency Care and Safety Institute training to become certified in CPR and the use of automatic external defibrillators or AEDs.

On Jan. 16, employees at all 90 SAISD campuses will receive CPR awareness training at a staff development day.

Other SAISD staff will undergo training at various points throughout the school year.

Students in the 3rd-8th grades will receive age-appropriate training in their health or PE classes. CPR awareness already is taught at the high school level.
