UTSA students help local convent market property

SAN ANTONIO – Students at the University of Texas at San Antonio's College of Architecture are helping a local church market their property.

The Convent of Missionary Catechists of Divine Providence is currently for sale on Castroville Road.

The students were brought in to come up with ideas for the nine acre site.

"The real purpose of this is to act as a catalyst. To one give the sisters a vision about what their property might become and the heritage they might lead to the community migh how concrete their legacy," said John Hertz, UTSA College of Architecture. "And the other is to help them and market their property and get the best value for it."

Among the ideas for the site: a retirement home for the sisters, multi-family housing and even a restaurant.
