SA firefighters battle pair of overnight fires


SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio firefighters battled a pair of fires early Thursday morning.

The first fire broke out around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of Broadbent Avenue on the Southeast Side.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke coming out of a vacant house, but extinguished the flames in about half an hour. No injuries were reported.

The second fire happened on the Northeast Side just before 1 a.m. in the 1200 block of Cornerway.

San Antonio fire crews arrived to find a vacant warehouse on fire and put it out quickly.

The arson unit is investigating the cause of both fires. Damage estimates were unknown.
