SAN ANTONIO – A group with the San Antonio Family Association gathered Friday near North Star Mall to promote the importance of marriage.
The group believes that marriage should be between a man and a woman.
They are proposing an amendment to the Constitution.
"We ask the Texas and state Legislature to bring about a constitutional amendment that recognizes two genders, male and female, as well that helps bring balance to our city and society," said Patrick Von Dohoen, with the San Antonio Family Association.
He said the group is not happy with the non-discrimination ordinance that passed last year.
San Antonio, along with other major Texas cities like Houston, prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
