Shots fired from SUV leads to chase, arrests

Occupant of SUV fired at vehicle on Loop 410

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police took three people in custody Sunday night after a brief car chase and shooting on the city's Northwest Side.

The shooting took place around 8:20 p.m. on Loop 410 East at Bandera Road when someone in an SUV reportedly fired at another vehicle.

The SUV then led police on about a 10-minute pursuit, winding its way to 410 and Broadway before finally coming to an end at 410 and Northwest Military Drive when the SUV crashed into tree.

Two men bailed out of the SUV and took off on foot. Police located the men a short time later with the help of SAPD's Eagle helicopter.

The alleged shooter is being charged with aggravated assault and evading arrest. The driver of the SUV is also being charged with evading arrest.

A woman who stayed in the SUV at the end of the chase was also taken into custody. Police did not say if she would be charged.

Officers are crediting another vehicle that was hit in chase for slowing the suspects' vehicle down. No one was injured in the shooting or chase that followed.
