SAPD investigates deadly double shooting

John Regalado, 43, pronounced dead at home on Ada Street, injured woman taken to SAMMC

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are looking into whether a deadly double shooting on the city's South Side may have been an attempted murder-suicide.

Emergency crews were called to a home in the 200 block of Ada Street around 9:30 p.m. on Monday night.

"A female resident inside the location called police saying that there were two individuals that were inside (and) had been shot," said San Antonio Police spokeswoman Officer Misty Floyd.

Officers found a man and woman both shot in the head.

John Regalado, 43, was pronounced dead at the scene. The as-yet unidentified woman, also in her 40s, was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition

"It's an ongoing investigation at this point. We don't know if it was self-inflicted or what the relationship was between the individuals," said Floyd.

Neighbors said they believed Regalado and woman were a couple.

Selso Cordova, who lives nearby, said he never saw any indications of trouble between them.

"It seemed like they were always happy, like they were always holding hands, always together," he said.

Public data records showed Regalado did not live at the home.

Neighbors said the woman lives there with her own teenage sons, as well as another family member and their children.

Police are looking into whether the case may have been a botched murder-suicide but at this time, don't have a motive.

An autopsy was scheduled for Regalado on Tuesday.
