Suspect arrested in shooting of far West Side couple

SAPD: Roger Trudell Davis, 32, climbed got into home through window

SAN ANTONIO – A man wanted by police for more than a month was taken into custody in connection with the shooting of his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend at her far West Side home.

San Antonio police arrested the 32-year-old Roger Trudell Davis Monday on two counts of aggravated assault.

They believe he climbed into a home in the 5900 block of Cliff Bank Street through a bedroom window and shot Rainn Guerrero, 22, and Jonathan Canady, 26.

Guerrero was hit in her thighs while Canady was grazed by a bullet on his left cheek, according to an arrest affidavit. Both survived the shooting.

The affidavit stated that Guerrero told police she had dated Davis for a short time, but had broken up with him.

Police said on Nov. 3, Davis showed up at her home, opened up her bedroom window and saw that she was with another man.

The affidavit stated that she said Davis then began firing a gun toward her and Canady, striking them.

Officers at the scene reported that at some point, Canady tried to use a dresser to block Davis from entering the bedroom.

Records show a warrant was issued for Davis' arrest almost immediately. However, he was not booked into jail until Monday. Bond for him was set at $150,000.
