Funeral to be held today for slain teen girl

Natalie Chavez, 15, found strangled under bridge

SAN ANTONIO – Friends and family gathered Monday to mourn and remember a slain 15-year-old girl.

A rosary and viewing were held Monday for Natalie Chavez at the Palm Heights Mortuary on South Zarzamora Street. 

After the viewing, a group gathered under the bridge where Chavez's body was discovered to hold a candlelight vigil.

The medical examiner said Chavez was strangled. No arrests have been made. 

Her funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday with burial to follow at San Jose Burial Park on Mission Road.
