Fireworks banned within city limits

SAN ANTONIO – New Year's Eve is right around the corner, but if you want to celebrate with fireworks you're going to have to go outside of city limits.

Unincorporated areas of Bexar County are allowing people to celebrate with fireworks but are asking residents to follow these tips to stay safe on New Year's Eve.

Choose an area to set off fireworks that does not have dry grasses, keep a bucket of water or a water hose nearby, and don't use fireworks if it's windy outside.

A fireworks hotline will be activated from 4 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday.

Call 335-FIRE to report the unsafe use of fireworks. The hotline is intended for use by residents of unincorporated Bexar County only.

To report the illegal use of fireworks inside the city limits, call the San Antonio Fire Department at 210-207-0202.
