San Antonio says goodbye to a piece of history

Arch at Hemisfair tore down

SAN ANTONIO – A piece of San Antonio history came down Wednesday.

Crews working at Hemisfair Park tore down the arch that ushered vistors into the park.

The Hemisfair Park Area Redevelopment Corporation posted an update on its Facebook page saying the arch is coming down to return some of the streets downtown back to what they were before the 1968's World's Fair.

That includes connecting East Nueva Street to La Villita.

The group says the arch will be stored on site until a new home is found for it.
