Jeff Mulliner was part of team that secured death sentence for Robert "Beaver" Perez

SAN ANTONIO – After he was convicted and sentence to life in prison in a federal case, notorious Texas Mexican Mafia leader Robert "Beaver" Perez was tried by the State of Texas in 1999 for the murders of two fellow gang members that occurred in 1994.

The trial was moved from San Antonio to Dallas because of publicity and Perez was convicted and sentenced to death.

Local attorney Jeff Mulliner, now in private practice, looks back at his role in that trial.
