Public weighs in on I-10 corridor plans

TxDOT shows off plans for stretch between Fair Oaks Parkway, Ralph Fair Road

SAN ANTONIO – The public had a chance to weigh in on proposed improvements for the Interstate 10 corridor between Fair Oaks Parkway and Ralph Fair Road Thursday night.

Texas Department of Transportation officials showed off the designs and engineers were on hand to answer questions about them.

One of the plans is to change the frontage roads along that stretch of I-10.

"With two-way frontage roads, we have seen an increase in crashes, and in order to prevent those crashes, we are converting them to one-way," said TxDOT spokeswoman Laura Lopez.

Another plan includes building a new overpass at Old Fredericksburg Road and reubilding the bridge at Fair Oaks Parkway.

Lopez said these changes would reduce congestion and increase safety.

More public input will be gathered these proposals.
