SAPD: Man walked out of Target with over $1K in stereo equipment

Alex Webster, 27, reportedly has theft history

SAN ANTONIO – An Austin man with a history of theft arrests has been arrested again on enhanced theft charges, this time in San Antonio.

An arrest warrant affidavit stated that Alex Webster, 27, and another man were caught on camera on Jan. 27, walking into a San Antonio Target store and stealing about $1,200 worth of wireless stereo sound system equipment.

The affidavit stated that both men each grabbed two boxes, then walked out of the store.

It stated that Webster held the boxes over his head to bypass the security sensors at the door, while the other man did not and set off an alarm.

Both of them still managed to run to a waiting car and escape, the affidavit stated.

It does not explain how police identified Webster as their suspect, or mention whether the other man has been arrested.

Webster was booked into the Bexar County Jail on Sunday.
