Cement plant blast injures 3

Explosion in coal mill at Capitol Aggregates leads to fire

SAN ANTONIO – Three people were hospitalized with burns after a blast at the cement plant on the Northeast Side Tuesday afternoon.

The blast happened around 2 p.m. at the Capitol Aggregates facility on Nacogdoches.

San Antonio Fire Department officials said there was an explosion in a coal mill that led to a fire.

The facility's suppression system was able to knock it out before firefighters arrived.

All three workers injured in the blast were taken to the hospital.

There has been no official word on what caused the explosion.
