Chase ends with suspect driving into creek bed

SAPD: Suspected driver arrested, had several warrants out for arrest

SAN ANTONIO – A police chase on San Antonio's near West Side ended with a suspect driving into a creek bed early Tuesday morning.

The chase began when an officer tried to pull over the driver around 2 a.m. for a traffic violation at Hamilton and Tampico.

The suspect sped away and drove into Apache Creek then over to San Pedro Creek until he got stuck underneath railroad tracks near Interstate 35 and Laredo.

Police said three men jumped out of the vehicle, but one surrendered immediately.

The suspected driver was tracked down by officers and a third person managed to flee police.

SAPD officials said the suspected driver would be charged with evading arrest. He also had several warrants.

There was no word if the other man who was detained would face charges.
