Police: Man ran down love rival with truck

SAPD: Rogelio Musquiz, 34, claims crash was accidental

SAN ANTONIO – A 34-year-old suspect is accused of purposely running down a man who he believed was having an affair with his wife.

Rogelio Musquiz was arrested Monday on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon stemming from the crash on Jan. 29.

According to an arrest affidavit, the 36-year-old victim was walking across the road in the 7400 block of NW Loop 410 when he was struck by a pickup driven by Musquiz.

Police said the truck left the scene after hitting the victim.

However, the victim, who suffered two broken wrists, was able to tell them Musquiz was driving, the affidavit stated.

It stated that he also told police he saw Musquiz purposely speed toward him, then hit him.

Detectives later questioned Musquiz who told them it was an accident, that he was trying to get away from the other man when he saw him walking toward his truck. 

Police said Musquiz admitted he knew the victim and suspected he was having an affair with his wife, the affidavit stated. 

Police said after the crash, Musquiz sold his truck to a local car dealer, but they were able to recover it.
