SAFD: 1 killed in plane crash near Government Canyon

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio Fire Department officials said at least one person was killed when the airplane they were in crashed near Government Canyon State Park, in Northwest Bexar County.

Fire department officials said the plane is a Thunder Mustang, a fixed-wing, single-engine two-seater, similar in looks to a vintage World War II-era craft.

They said it went down just after 5 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

Rescue crews are attempting to determine if there were more than one person on board the plane at the time of the crash.
