NTSB: No engine failure prior to fatal plane crash

SAN ANTONIO – National Transportation Safety Board officials said there was no evidence of engine failure in a deadly plane crash near Government Canyon State Natural Area.

Thomas Baber, 66, of Helotes, was killed when his plane crashed on Feb. 25.

In a report released Thursday, NTSB officials said investigators spoke to a witness who said he saw the plane perform a maneuver moments before crashing.

He added that he had previously seen the pilot perform similar maneuvers in the past.
