SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio is home to the defending world champion San Antonio Spurs, and maybe not quite as big, the defending Texas Roadhouse Restaurant Meat Cutter Champion.
Reynaldo Delgado said he's been cutting meat for the famous food-chain, located off Ingram Road for the past 10 years.
"I used to work in the line and one day our meat cutter quit and I asked for the opportunity," Delgado said.
Delgado cuts up to a thousand steaks a day from rib-eye's to sirloins. He takes his job and the competition very seriously.
"On my days off I come over here and do some practice," Delgado said.
"He challenges himself every day to get the most steaks out of the meat he cuts," said Harry Brackman, managing partner.
Delgado beat out 450 meat cutters last year for the title and $20,000. Now, he's heading to Arizona in April to defend his title.
"You need to put some passion in it," Delgado said.
