Sisters reunite after more than 40 years

Cindy Salazar, Dayle Hudson hadn't seen each other since they were young girls

SAN ANTONIO – It was a reunion more than 40 years in the making.

Two sisters were finally reunited Friday in San Antonio after connecting on Facebook.

San Antonio resident Cindy Salazar said she was 12 the last time she saw her little sister, Dayle Hudson, who was 5.

"It never dawned on me that I'd be able to see her again," Salazar said.

"I remember somebody brushing my hair when I was a little girl, telling me what a pretty girl I was," Hudson said.

Salazar and Hudson have the same father.

Salazar stayed in San Antonio and Hudson moved to Washington State.

Salazar would visit her father and Hudson during the summers, but when their father passed away in 1969, the sisters lost contact.

"I always thought of her and the other siblings, but never knew how to get ahold of them," Salazar said.

Forty-five years later, Salazar found a way through Facebook.

"Three days after my mom passed away, I got a request from Cindy," Hudson said.

The two sisters reconnected about a year and a half ago on Facebook and Friday they met face to face.

Salazar and Hudson said they will spend this week dancing, eating and making up for lost time.
