Bexar Jury Services warns of jury duty scam

Scammer threatens arrest if not paid

SAN ANTONIO – A phone scam has Bexar County Jury Services issuing a warning to residents.

The scam is aimed at taking thousands of dollars from people under the threat of arrest for missing jury duty.

Jury Services said the scammer is asking random residents to pay $2,000 to $4,000 or face immediate arrest.

To make the payment, the victims are asked to obtain a money order from Walmart or a reloadable, prepaid debit card.

Jury Services said if a resident were to be legitimately contacted for missing jury duty, it would be done via mail.

If you any questions or believe you may have been contacted by the scammer, call the Central Jury Office at 210-335-2667.
