Photographer gets backlash for pic of baby in American flag

A Virginia woman's photo of a baby wrapped in an American flag has gone viral, but reaction online has been mostly negative. 

Professional photographer Vanessa Hicks posted the picture on her Facebook page on Monday. 

Hicks said internet users have lashed out on social media and accused her of being disrespectful to the United States flag. 

Many people believe the photo also violates the U.S. Flag code.

Hicks is a Navy veteran and married to an active duty sailor. Hicks said she wanted to honor the American flag, as well as her clients who wanted to incorporate their military service into the photo shoot. 

Hicks reached out to Facebook about cyber bullying, but representatives from the site told her it was considered online harassment.

Hicks has received some feedback from people who say the photo was not disrespectful.
