Fiesta tickets, Spurs medals go on sale
Fiesta runs from April 16-26
SAN ANTONIO – Even though people weren't supposed to officially line up outside the Fiesta store on Broadway until 10 a.m. Friday, a line started forming at 6 a.m. for tickets to popular events.
"Before I used to come, and the tickets I used to get weren't so great, so I thought, 'Well this year, it's my first year coming out here real early in the morning,'" said Mike De La Rosa, who lined up early for tickets.
This year, there were two lines instead of one, because it was the first time Spurs medals were being sold at the Fiesta Store.
"It's easier to come here to the Fiesta store then to the AT&T Center, so I'm glad that they finally started doing it here," said Vincent Alcozer, who was after a Spurs medal.
Just like the last two years, there was a lottery system for tickets. The Spurs Coyote drew number 21 to get in line first, 22 and so on got in line next, and then one through 20 went last.
The line for Spurs medals was on a first-come first-serve basis.
The turnout impressed Fiesta officials.
"Look at all the people out today. We've got tickets on sale for 16 events and medals," said Fiesta Executive Director Phil Nelson.
If you didn't get your tickets today, you can still buy them online.
Fiesta begins on April 16 and runs to April 26.
Don't forget, KSAT 12 is your official Fiesta station. We will carry all the big parades live on-air and online at KSAT.com, and be at the Battle of the Bands as well this year. Viva Fiesta!
