Lockdown lifted for Southside ISD
SAN ANTONIO – A lockdown has been lifted for several Southside ISD schools.
The lockdown was issued at 10:30 a.m. Friday after the Bexar County Sheriff's Office informed the district it dispatched a SWAT team to a home in the 1500 block of Brenda Elaine, where a 50-year-old man has barricaded himself.
BCSO spokesman James Keith said SWAT entered the home at noon and found the man dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The schools affected by the lockdown were Southside High School, Pearce Primary, Losoya Intermediate and Early College High School.
The district's central offices off Highway 281 and Martinez-Loyosa Road was also on lockdown.
