All-clear given at Public Safety HQ following bomb scare

Suspicious bag found outside building detonated

SAN ANTONIO – The all-clear was given late Tuesday morning after a suspicious bag found outside Public Safety Headquarters in downtown San Antonio was detonated by the San Antonio Police Department Bomb Squad.

According to a San Antonio Fire Department official, a bag was left unattended on the north side of the building at 300 South Santa Rosa at 10:15 a.m.

Officer Doug Greene, a spokesman for SAPD, said the bag didn't have an explosive device in it and probably contained some books and other articles.

Greene said incidents like this "better prepares us if such a situation arises to respond to something like that."

Employee were evacuated from the building while the incident was being investigated.
