Cops: Woman attacked, robbed while walking down the street

SAN ANTONIO – Police are searching for a man who robbed a woman as she walked down Austin Street on Monday around 8:30 p.m.

The woman told police when the car pulled up next to her a man in the passenger seat rolled down the window and said, "Give me a cigarette, (expletive)."

She said the man then got out of the vehicle, walked toward her, grabbed at her purse and told her to give him the purse.

Police said the woman tried to fight the man off with her purse, but she noticed he had a pocket knife he was trying to cut her with. She began screaming and the man was finally able to rip the purse out of her hands, causing her to fall to the ground.

The woman told police the thief got back into the car and left the area.

The victim suffered a 2-inch cut on her left wrist, but she said she wasn't sure when she got it.

Police said there was one other person in the car, which is described as being a white, four-door sedan.
