Student reports suspicious person near SAISD school

Baskin Elementary principal said person in van tried to talk to girl

SAN ANTONIO – The principal of Baskin Elementary said the San Antonio Independent School District police will increase patrols in the area where a student reported a suspicious person.

In a letter to parents, Baskin Elementary principal Karen Rose said a girl walking to school Thursday morning witnessed a white van pull up on Glenview Drive behind a Dollar General. The girl reported to school personnel that a person in the van opened a door and attempted to talk to the student.

Rose said in her letter that the district police department was notified immediately and patrols have increased in the area.

The school is asking parents to remind their children to be aware of their surrounding when walking to and from school.

Parents are asked to call SAISD police at 210-271-3124 to report suspicious activity.
