Man dies in construction site fall

City: Victor Echartea-Medina, 41, fell from fourth floor of apartment complex

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – A 41-year-old man died after falling at a construction site in New Braunfels.

According to a statement issued by the city of New Braunfels, the accident happened just before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the construction site for the Creekside Way Apartments.

Police investigators said when they arrived, they found 41-year-old Victor Echartea-Medina, of San Antonio, on the ground.

They said he fell from the fourth floor of the building where he was working as a painting subcontractor.

The city said their investigation shows that Echartea-Medina was standing on a platform unloading 5-gallon buckets of paint when the platform became unstable, causing him to fall more than 30 feet to the ground.

He was rushed to an area hospital where he later died.
