SAPD officers say the victim had been drinking and had just left a nearby convenience store where he bought more beer.

He crossed the street in front of traffic and a few cars managed to avoid him while another driver swerved, but still struck him.

Police said the driver stopped and was not expected to face charges

The pedestrian was taken to University Hospital, but police did not release an update on his condition.
