Man wanted in 2011 murder captured in Mexico

Rafael Hernandez, 41, is suspect in death of Maria Teresa Leon

SAN ANTONIO – A man wanted in connection with a 2011 murder in Bexar County is in custody after being captured in Mexico.

Rafael Hernandez, 41, was extradited Thursday morning from Nuevo Laredo to Webb County.

He's accused in the death of Maria Teresa Leon, who was found dead inside a car in the 1100 block of Northwest 26th Street in August 2011.

Hernandez was also wanted for two counts of aggravated assault family violence.

He will be transferred to Bexar County at a later date.
