Woman killed in crash with driver fleeing police ID'd

Victim identified as 34-year-old Iris Ortega


SAN ANTONIO – A woman who died after a crash with a driver who was fleeing police in Castle Hills has been identified.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as 34-year-old Iris Ortega.

The crash occurred on March 30 when police said a man attempted to pass suspicious documents at a Bank of America at Military Drive and West Avenue.

A bank teller alerted officers who attempted to speak with the man, but he fled in his car with Ortega as the passenger.

The man crashed into another car about a half-mile away and left Ortega behind before fleeing on foot, police said. Ortega was pronounced dead at the scene.

That suspect remains at-large and faces several charges. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
