Jose H. Villarreal named Hillary Clinton's campaign treasurer for 2016 presidential run

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio attorney Jose H. Villarreal was named Hillary Clinton's campaign treasurer on Monday, a day after Clinton's long-expected announcement to run for president in 2016.

Several media outlets reported Villarreal was tabbed for the position.

Villarreal has deep ties to the Clintons. He served as deputy campaign manager for Bill Clinton in 1992 and as a senior adviser to Clinton in 2008 when she first ran for president.

As Secretary of State in 2010, Clinton named Villarreal U.S. Commissioner General to the Shanghai 2010 World Expo.

Villarreal is also the campaign treasurer for U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro.
