Organizers: Health care mega-clinic exceeded expectations

6,100 people treated to $20M in health-related services

SAN ANTONIO – According to reports from event organizers, last week's three-day mega-clinic at the Alamodome far surpassed its goal in providing free health care services to the people of San Antonio.

More than 1,700 health care professionals and volunteers operated the clinic that treated more than 6,100 people -- 360 of whom were given surgical services at no cost.

Overall, more than $20 million in free health-related services were offered.

Organizers had originally estimated they would only provide $10 million in medical services to 6,000 people.
