Traffic stop leads to arrest of car burglary suspect

SAPD: Samuel Hernandez, 36, caught with carload of stolen items

SAN ANTONIO – A 36-year-old man with a history of car burglary convictions is accused of falling back on old crime habits.

San Antonio police said they caught Samuel Hernandez with a carload of stolen items after conducting a traffic stop on him.

Hernandez faces two new counts of burglary of a vehicle.

In one of the cases, a man reported that someone broke into his car in parking lot in the 1900 block of Nacogdoches Road in the afternoon of April 9.

The man told police that his Air Jordan sneakers and backpack were stolen from the vehicle.

When police conducted the traffic stop on Hernandez the following day, they found the man's stolen property as well as items taken in at least one other car burglary inside his car, the affidavit stated.

Police said there also were tools that are commonly used in car burglaries inside Hernandez's vehicle, the affidavit stated.

Hernandez was booked into the Bexar County jail at that time.  The two new charges were filed against him later.
