SAN ANTONIO – The search for the next superintendent at San Antonio Independent School District is over after the district's board approved Pedro Martinez Monday night.
Martinez was the lone finalist for the job after a second finalist withdrew his name from consideration.
Martinez has most recently worked at the Nevada Department of Education, where he is a superintendent in residence.
He met with parents and business leaders last week and said he is excited about the opportunity in San Antonio.
Martinez is replacing Dr. Sylvester Perez, who announced his resignation in October.
The terms of Martinez's contract will be finalized at a meeting May 11, according to the district.
